First, my writing bud Mark Starlin, I think your observations are valid. Second, it’s how my brain processes punctuation. When I see ! my pea brain associates words to the exclamation point instead of feelings.

In my oh so humble opinion, my weirdness starts looking for the words which express the sense of urgency, or terror or excitement. Somehow, my brain has a tendency to gloss over that particular type of punctuation.

Of course, it was an opinion piece, and before I published it I thought, “wow P.G. you’re going to get some comments on this one.”

I agree. Facebook is the primary cause of most of our punctuation woes.
