Vanessa, I so totally agree. I believe a few of the less enlightened are missing the point. A point which you made perfectly clear. It’s not about the five freaking dollars a month. Hell, I’m half tempted to offer to pay someone’s dues for a month just so they can understand what is so unique about the writing community they’re trying to worm their way into.

It’s about the freaking community, the bond of writers — some struggling, some not — sticking together and helping each other through the good and the bad times. It’s about a body of like-minded and not so like minded- writers supporting the right to publish behind the wall even if we don’t necessarily agree with their opinion.

It’s about paying your dues and helping each of your brother and sister writers the opportunity to grow, both spiritually and monetarily. Because in the long run they will pay it forward.

If someone doesn’t want to help foster that attitude with monthly contributions then I have little time or interest in reading and clapping for them.
